Lisa Forkner,

Spiritual Director

I am passionate about spiritual formation and working with people to deepen their faith walk with Jesus.  My vocational calling is to foster experiences for spiritual transformation and emotional healing through authentic relationship, meaningful story, creative expression, and welcoming space. Having received spiritual direction for over a decade, I have been called by God into the companioning ministry of spiritual direction and the broader field of spiritual formation.

My spiritual journey has been unfolding since I was a very young child. My faith is grounded in biblical truth, rooted in Trinitarian theology, and flourishes in intentional contemplative practices. The spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, and journaling help me grow in my relationship with Jesus, and the practices of solitude and silence, being out in nature, and exercising my creative gifts help me to be attentive to the presence of his Spirit. I have created and follow a personal rule of life which gives form to my spiritual rhythms and helps me encounter God in every part of my daily life.

Here are a few comments my spiritual friends and directees have shared with me:

“Your beautiful way of extending hospitality is reviving to me.”

“Your ability to slow down to be reflective shows a deep sincerity in your soul.”

And, “You are a trustworthy listener.”

I have over thirty years of Christian ministry and non-profit board work experience. My husband and I have been married for thirty-one years and we have three adult children whom I raised as a full-time mother. We reside in Massachusetts and I enjoy walking in the woods, being near, on, or in the ocean, exploring new places, playing pickleball, doing life with my husband, and laughing with family and friends. I cook, throw pottery, write stories, and take photos. Every photographic image on this website is my own work.
